Not cheating at all

No, really! I made it out for a run last night. It was a lovely evening, apart from the rain. Well, it tried to rain on me, anyway. More spitting really.

What is it about running? Why is it that some days (Saturday, for example, or marathon day last year) it feels like every single step is a drag, and there's no way you've ever run before, and you can't possibly keep going, apart from the fact that you're now a long way from home, and you simply have to walk.right.now. And other days (last night, Reading half marathon last year - first 11 miles, anyway) you feel like you could run forever, it's not only easy, it's fun. You get the point of this after all, and don't want to stop.

I ran for 36 minutes straight through, without walking once. That's pretty good for me, normally I follow a run-walk pattern. I really do seem to need to get into a rhythm though. I've bought myself a little mp3 player (a Creative Zen Nano Plus with 256Mb, not the full 1Gb, in blue) and I really think it helped last night. I know, I should pay attention to my surroundings, hearing is an important sense, yadda yadda yadda. But I didn't have it on very loud, I could still hear most things.

Today though, the wind is back. I'm torn between another indoor cycling session, or a rest day. Probably a rest. Legs feel ok, but just a smidge tired...
